You are right--Milano has a much different feel than the rest of Italy. I'd always noticed it but thought it related to the fashion industry. And to the opera and the fact that Milano was always frowned up and scorned by the popes as decadent and faithless. You the effect that opera has on folks.

Milan felt more like Europe than the rest of Italy. The rest of Italy felt slightly Middle Eastern. Which I like. A lot.

It's more German and Swiss. I don't like it so much. But Risotto is good.
