1 lovely big ham hock
1 lb. split peas
2 qts. water
6 carrots, diced finely
1 large onion, diced finely
6 stalks celery, diced finely
Thoroughly wash peas and combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Season liberally. Cook on low for 24 hours. Guaranteed to please.

Dear JBelle.... Mel made up the said recipe per instructions........ obviously little beknown to you....during the afternoon after consuming the said scrummie soup.... she gasped as her throat and tongue swelled and her breathing became laboured, the rash that ravaged her body was not a pretty sight, her neck became swollen like the bum of an elephant......... she tried to hang on to life BUT THE FUCKING HAM HOCK SNUFFED THE BLOODY LIFE OUT OF HER AS SHE IS 'HIGHLY' ALLERGIC TO ANY PORK PRODUCE......... while we thank you kindly for the recipe........ we will also be sueing your arse for compensation towards all burial costs via Mr Sharkie or via Mr Starr....

Well... I can eat ham hocks and the recipe sounds great... even in the heat.
