The Jello of Bellemaison

It's true. We have served jello on the Patio at JBelle's for many years. Many of guests we've had were little kids so we developed what they tell me is the best jello in the history of civilization. The Chows and I don't eat too much jello so we take it under advisement. Herewith is our recipe for Jello of the Gods:

2 large boxes strawberry jello

3 large bananas, mashed

1 small carton sour cream at room temperature

16 oz frozen sweetened strawberries

In a 9 x 13 pan, make the first box of jello as directed on the box, except cut the cold water in half. After the cold water step, add the 3 bananas and whip moderately to bind the jello and bananas. Refrigerate for one hour. Remove from refrigerator and frost with sour cream. Refrigerate for an additional two hours. Prepare second box of jello, omitting cold water and substituting frozen strawberries. Remove jello pan from refrigerator and carefully pour liquid jello/strawberry mixture over set jello being carefully not to divot the sour cream. Refrigerate for at least four hours. Cut and serve. Stand back and watch ear-to-ear smiles. Collect your hugs.

Jello? I...Jello?

Oh my, oh my, oh my. At first blush this appears to be very, uh, uh, mid-western, shall we say?

Unless the word "shooter" is somewhere in the adjacent vacinity, bien sur.

Hunh.
Jello, the new black. Go figure.

Okay - this a must for a recipe review at Stebbijo's. I like the mashed banana part and the layering. It sounds awesome. I may try it with diet jello so I can eat the whole pan! Coming soon - at my place - probably this Friday.

Ah, Jello...elixer of the ruggers. I surely have a candidate, so I will have to take you up on this recipe too. Your last couple of postings are going to make me a hero in the kitchen, JBelle. Thanks!

And if we get everyone in the neighborhood to make a batch...perhaps we can get some jello wrestling in...

did you read the post at all, Your Holiness? or just rush into judgement?

(shaking head) (pursing lips) (tapping toe) (you are going to feel really silly when the time comes)(smacking Her Holiness upside the face)

STEBBIJO! I do it with sugar free jello and fat free sour cream and my kids are onto me like a duck on a june bug. This is comfort food of the highest order and adjustments and changes are met with shreiks and howls of entitlement. Start your kids right. Go with sf jello and ff sour cream. You'll love it. ;)

Forrrrd. You can try all kinds of diversions, like cole slaw with shrimp but Jello of the Gods remains the eucharist when at a family dinner at Bellemaison. You can't go wrong with this one. You're welcome. See above if you have teen age girls.

Yum. I gotta try this one out on the Urchins. Maybe for The Goo's belated bday bash. Thanks. You rock.

Oh...it's been ages since I made jello. I might just have to invite some kids over for the occasion. Do you think I could make this with chocolate pudding? Hmm....

Jelly is wibbly wobbly jelly right?..... we mix it up sometimes using evaporated milk instead of half the water and whisk and whisk and it comes out like a light fluffy mouse..... :)

Mel, I could try that next time I make jello which will be in another 15 years, given the little people that visit these days. It sounds quite interesting....

This stuff is amazing. For reals. Don't alter any bit of it, otherwise it degrades the whole recipe.

I have three nieces and a husband that love jello. I can't wait to try this. It sounds divine.

I am certain this will be the first thing gone from what you brought us. I can't stop eating it, and the kids keep getting into it as well...

Mmmmmm.....jello.
