The Chows are quite busy. This is a heavy pre-production time at Bellemaison and they are hard at it. They have taken all the pine needles off the roses and accumulated huge piles everywhere in the garden. They leave the dirt mounded around the roses for the time which I don't understand because they are working quite hard with the secret production strategy which gives Bellemaison the absolute best roses in all of The 'Kan EWA. They take great pride in this known, but little-employed tactic that produces canes and canes and canes of lush, waxy foliage and handsfuls of fragrant, dewey roses.

That's right. They are scratching one half cup of epsom salts in the drip line of each of the 400 roses at Bellemaison. P33t's the big dog, so he has been covering the shrub roses, some of which extend 8 feet in diameter. P33t says those roses are just like him: big and bushy. Cle has been working with the antique roses, the white ones, in fact. He, like me, just loves white roses and we have the same favorite: Jacquelin du Pre. Do', of course, has been taking care of all the red hybrid teas and Sylvie tends the Victory Garden, planted for the Portland Pilots. She says that's because she's loyal.

The hydrangea canes blow in the March winds and the rhododenrons stand by stoically, ready for action. Soon the secrets of the winter will be revealed.

the beauty that spring brings.

renewal.

rejuvination.

rebirth.

your garden always bring strong memories of home for me. the pictures, while remarkably beautiful, never do justice. They can only hope to capture the essence of that smell that eminates through the backyard as two humming birds dance through the flowers.

I don't get it.. how do you have blooms already? Our rose bush hasn't even put leaves on yet, though the buds are there.

This posting is so soothing. Thank you. So, you have 4 chows? Way cool. I used to train hunting retrievers and keep kennels. There were many dogs around for a few years there. Now, I just keep one. It sounds like you have a pack...do they tag team you?

They tag team me and monitor my behavior closely. They send me texts all day and from time to time, I see my son's pickup, which is SUPPOSED to be in storage, from my office window, heading up across the Washington Street bridge, going at a precarious rate of speed.

And when I ask them, they say they nap all day.

Ha! I found that littermates sometimes developed a shared sense and were able to work me as a team. Quite interesting dynamics. You sound like you have a busy pack. Make sure that truck's insured.

:)

WAIT!!! what?!?!?!? The General is not resting in storage like he's suppose to? The dude's been through three wars and several minor conflicts (believe it or not, they called him in for Kosovo. He's the guy that brought down Milosevic.). He needs to get back and get his rest!! This does not make me a happy boy...
