Lilac Alzheimers! Gotta be one of the best kinds! What color are they?

The lilacs here are miniatures, Koreans; they stand about as tall as me, maybe a little taller (5'8") because they are currently quite happy with their space at Bellemaison. They are small, tiny-flowered plants but with uber fragrance. omg. Fragrance that will blow your doors off. Fragrance that will never let you go back to regular lilacs again. Cuz they are just not the same. Koreans. They sneak up on ya.

The ferns are just unrolling now too. I absolutely love them this time of year. That funny look glob of pineneedles and leaves is guess what? a terrific robin's nest in the climbing hydrangea. And this mother is tough, too. The Chows had murmured something about some leasehold improvements in the hydrangea garden so I tip toed over there to see what was up and she blew out of that nest, screeching, mach 7. Flew past me not more than 6 inches from my eye, beak up, lungs bursting. So I snapped my picture and got the hell out of there. Maybe it was my imagination but I definitely thought I heard the Chows snickering as I beat a hasty retreat out the gate....

Ohhhh...how lovely that description of Korean lilac sounds. Now I'm going to have to check out a garden store to see and know how beauty smells firsthand. An adventure, oooo...

/waving back to Shelleigh and slipping a sprig of lilac behind her right ear

You know, this whole Korean lilac conversation remembers me that I have half a dozen big pots of Korean lilacs that I schlep up to the front porch, to smell while I drink coffee. Wonder where those are? Chooooowwwwws?

I honestly don't think I have EVER seen a lilac... let alone smelled one... LET ALONE had a sprig placed behind my ear!!!!!!

I will stay in this garden for awhile... healing to my very core.

Lilac water?! Never did make it but would love to know how so as to send some to Shell. Shakespeare wrote often about cowslips and lilacs, Shell, and their regenerative powers. Would that I could make a lilac forest materialize in Arizona at this very moment, I would. Curt, ever used rose water?
