Pretty...... I love red plants.... I dont do yellow or orange plants in the summer... I just cant lol... to me they are a spring thing and I do not have one single yellow or orange flower in me tiny garden during the summer months.... my passion though is BLUE delphiniums and penstimons.... which I love with a PASSION.... blues and purples and mauves is what I love the most... and of course RED geraniums....

How I would love to wander around your garden.... one day aye....

Mel, I am really pushing myself this year with yellow annuals in the garden. I love the orange daylillies and trumpet vine; the hummingbirds love them, too. Fortunately, I have many blue delphinium and penstimons, pink penstimons, too. Blue is imperative here because of all the roses. It's the one things the compliments any rose, any color. The hydrangeas are now blooming and they are so lovely. WE don't get much of a blue here because we just don't have that much acid in the soil and so matter how much I put down for them, they know. They know it's just me and fade back to some hue of pink. :) sigh. That's fair, I guess.

Striking photo. I try to add yellow and orange also. A few years ago all I had was pastel colors and then I started added bright "hot" colors. I really love deep purple. I have never in my life been able to grow delphiniums. I finally had to give up and I do love them. I guess they don't like Lake Roosevelt sandy soil.I love your new banner at the top and it inspired me to take some pictures through windows yesterday.

Jbelle, Is this rose Lavaglut? To me, the blooms don't seem dark enough the the flower looks right.

jbelle, aren't you dry enough for Russian sage? I keep several around the garden for accents with the roses. Actually, I cut the sage for a vase of roses. Very cool. I also like the coral bells for the same, but somewhat different effect. They're not blue but still nice.

I know you and Mack liked my card of Peace Rose and bluebells.

I LOVED your card of Peace rose and bluebells! And I do grow lots and lots and LOTS of Russian sage, as it really does nice things again, with all the roses. The gray is a terrific accent and the scent combination with a really aromatic rose in the vase is lovely.

And Julie, the rose is 'Robusta' own root, bought from our own Coeur d'Rose, in the area here.

Mrs. Roosevelt: For whatever reason, it took me many tries and countless varieties but I finally got me some delphies. In its final stages, it was a grudge match: me v. them. But now we're all happy. That window photo was just about all I was looking for--I want some expression of an outward view, or the world through Bellemaison's eyes. There's a few more things I'd like the image to capture so I'm hoping for a breakthrough... :)Funny you should mention deep purple because I bordered the only lawn in the joint with salmon gernaiums, orange impatiens, light blue lobelia and deep purple, magenta snapdragons. It's worked really well and gives a bright, sharp border for the house from the street. Very different for me, though...hey! maybe I've had a breakthrough??

A little lost here, but came from Yolanda's blog.
Love your roses. Are the 'Chows' dogs? I love dogs of all shapes & sizes, & have 2 of my own. Poodle/Maltese & 2 very different individuals!
Have enjoyed my visit.

Ah...the view out the window is divine. Just perfect for my morning cup of coffee. And those red flowers...do you get hummingbirds?

JBelle said...

Carla, we have dozens and dozens of hummingbirds here--the trick is the deep red, bright orange and hot pink flowers. That's pretty much why we started growing them but it only took a year or so to get used to them. We lovers the hummers!

whoa! whoa! somebody hit the lights. Mel, you do not have hummingbirds in the UK? Will you confirm that for me? Or at least you do not have them where you are?

MarmiteToasty said...

JBelle, nope, we dont have hummingbirds anywhere in the UK, not wild anyways..... Im sure there are some in some zoo place somewhere....

To see something that Ive longed to see for so many years was like a dream come true.... see how easily pleased I am, I am very low maintenance lol.... yep a little humming bird can bring me to tears....

You do not realise just how lucky you are to live in America with all that you have..... just give me a little shack in a clearing in the woods and I will live a happy life.... with chickens and plants.... and the occasional visitor lol

hi Meggie! And welcome! I missed your comment in my sleepy stupor, apparently. :/ Those Chows are dogs; with black skin and tongues. And all 4 have such distinct personalities. I *really* enjoyed my visit to your blog and look forward to popping back in. You do the same! And there is a really wild and crazy British woman who hangs around her. Dont' be afraod. She's harmless. ;)

Yolanda,

I loved your blog and loved your photos. Photography is a new hobby of mine and your windowsill shot brought me much calm and easy contemplation. Can't wait to see more!
