I hate surprises. It's true. I love to give Christmas presents but I do not like to get Christmas presents. I do not like any sudden moves. Especially in traffic. I don't like windfalls. I coulda been planning. Just don't surprise me. Those closest to me know that and speak quietly but firmly when they approach me from the rear.

So guess what happened to me on a Monday morning?

I got North Dakota. true, true, true. North Dakota! Hang on; I need to break for a moment for the Happy Dance. okay, I'm back. I'm just so darn happy about this! North Dakota came in the US Mail, out of the blue, a complete surprise, just for me. I loved it. My friend who surprised me is a courageous person and I think, I know, he rocks! Nort DAAkota. mine. quarters. remember? I've been looking for North Dakota....

There was another thing on my desk, besides the morning mail, that I was slightly irritated with because I didn't put the thing on my desk and my desk should not be a holding pen for others to actualize surprises. So I opened the bag with more than a certain impatience; surely the cretan who surprised me with this bag should know better? know quite better? ? ?

surely?

Know what was in the bag? a fire engine red, silver and gold OCC cap, get this:::: autographed by Paul Sr., Paul Jr. and Mikey! TRUE STORY. An absolutely incredible surprise, just for me. And I loved it. IIIIIIIII loved it.

Am I growing? Am I changing? maybe. sure nice to think about. What's really nice to think about are my friends who are brave and rise above my best protestations. Is the sweetest surprise in all of life to find that you are loved?

I think so.

God of freedom, all victorious,
Give us Souls serene and strong,
Strength to make the future glorious,
Keep the echo of our song;
North Dakota, North Dakota,
In our hearts forever long.

Whaaaat? You got OCC goods? From whom? Us kids can't even buy you a box of kleenex without clearing it through the proper channels MONTHS in advance! sheesh. what're you gonna do when i get you that Chanel bag you've been pining for...

What's OCC? Help! I'm so out of the loop. I'm going to go google it.

Bre said...

Ok, googling was not a success, or I don't think it was.
Here's what I came up with, my best guess is, it's

Orange County Choppers
or
Orange Coast College
Office of Comptroller Currency
Optical Cable Corporation

Bree, Orange County Choppers. I am a devoted fan. sigh. :)

Peed, now if you're serious about this Chanel bag, for God's sake, let's set about this in an orderly, systematic and strategic manner. Shouldn't we got to Paris to get one; it'll be so much cheaper. Chanel in the PNW leaves to much to be desired, don't you think? And Chanel in SoCal. shudder. contradiction in terms. have you been to their website? the fall bags are quite interesting but not as interesting as the 3/4 length long jackets. which i love. anyway. let's not scurry helter skelter into this thing but let's proceed deliberatively, with contemplation. what are the old biddies in the Beaverton hills wearing? have you done the follow up on fall fashion week? what's the color for spring? have you talked to your brother at all? what do you know about the dollar? short or long for a year?

:)

Bree, btw, the Chows were absolutely delighted to hear from you and luv, luv, luv your picture.

those darn dogs. xo

Oh Jbelle you crack me up. Cheaper to fly all the way to Paris to buy a Chanel bag. They must be darn expensive here if they cost more than a couple round trip tickets to Paris. =)

Tell the chows "Hi" and give them some loves. I love when I visit and I get to see pictures of them, they make me smile.

omg bree! Chanel and Louis Vuitton are MUCH cheaper in France and Gucci and Prada cost 1/3 in Italy of what they do here. Know why? Luxury tariffs. Now getting them back in this country is when the catch up starts. This is just what I've read.

Chants of 'Pictures! Pictures!' were heard from the gallery in anticipation of what could truly be the greatest gift of the year.

I have a hard time keeping surprises. The fam always jokes about how The Otis and I open all of our gifts for each other before christmas. Then we end up buying more so we'll have something to open christmas morning. I just wish we had :) to go to Paris to buy them.

Paris is where you get the real deals, T. When you're ready to go, lemme know. I will personally walk you through every street and the flea markets to boot. We North Idaho girls do this for each other.

see what i mean about planning? sheesh. Okay, so Tim Gunn--the Project Runway guru and head of The Parsons New School of Design in good ol' NYC--says that Purple is THE color of Spring 2007. Just so you know.

jb3ll3 said...

well! purple. I've GOT purple.

I hear the hot colors right now, at least amongst the high school set, are Black and White!

How 'bout them Bullpups, eh?
