Yes, and it sure looks purdy from over here in the cheap seats. Blue skies...water...mountains...
Ahhhhhhh....

I see concrete, suburban sprawl busting at the seams with heavy moving equipment and cranes when I peer out a window: The Peoples' Republic of Greed and Self-Loathing in _______ (insert your favorite low class community setting here). Perhaps I should have had some coffee (and a benzo) before posting. Hey, do you think I look fat in this angst?

no, no, no; not only is there not an OUNCE of fat on you, you look wonderful in absolutely anything you put on. Probably because you have such exquisite taste?

xoxoxxo

(it really is pretty; perfect setting for a group hug?)

I have a new outlook on Western Washington since our trip to the Olympic beaches. You asked me on my blog about Kalaloch Lodge... Yes, I think it would be great for a gathering of adults. In fact, there really weren't that many kids around during our stay. I think most of the 20+ cabins had couples, retirees, etc.

They have cabins of varying sizes too. They all have big kitches stocked with pots and pans, dishes, utensils, coffee maker, microwave, fridge. There is a little grocery store next to the main lodge building, where we got hot dogs, marshamallows, ice cream, etc. Next time I think we'd plan better and bring our own supplies. The lodge restaurant is first-class. With 66 miles of beaches, you basically can have the whole place to yourself. My next post will show the big fire we made on the beach. Kalaloch is a place I'd recommend to anybody, and we will definitely return there on a regular basis.

Two more things about Kalaloch Lodge... A few years ago, Laura Bush stayed there for a couple of nights with her friends during their annual "camping trip". Also, Sunset Magazine named the Lodge the Most Romantic Getaway in the West back in 1998.

PENALTY FLAG!

Unanswerable question!

some have asked...let me say: San Juans. Except for the I-5 shot in from the airport. I love Seattle!

Seattle is swell, no doubt about it. A "slice of glittering heaven" -- I like that, Curt! Today has been a glorious day of blue skies, comfortable 80 deg warmth, and the ahhhh-inspiring Mt. Rainier towering over the horizon.

I went to Kalaloch as a kid once or twice -- we camped in a tent trailer and it rained. Beautiful beach though. The cabins look cool but I've felt spooked about staying there ever since a friend of a friend -- a young woman I had also been acquainted with for several years -- committed suicide in one of those cabins about 8 years ago. So sad.

San Juans are awesome! And finally reaching them is a well-deserved reward if you get stuck in a ferry wait for a couple hours. (Go in the spring or fall if you're the impatient type!)

Of course you East Coasters (and eastern Washingtoners) have an open invitation for a tour by moi anytime you get over here. I'll even show you where to Thai One On....
